Hello Dorks! I'm back with the second half of my last post. This round of "construction" is dedicated to Disney California Adventure park. With the recent additions of Buena Vista Street and Cars Land, sections of DCA are looking better than they ever have. Time for phase 2 of construction begin. Again, I have to add that some of these ideas are rumors, some projects are rumored to be green lit already, and other ideas are from my head. I'm hoping this summer at the D23 convention, Disney Parks will have some awesome news about the changes ahead for the Disneyland Resort. With that being said...Let's spend a billion!!!
Monstropolis replaces Hollywood Backlot
Apparently this is gonna happen pretty quick. Probably (fingers crossed) will be announced at D23. The now "backlot" themed street will be a Monsters Inc. miniland inside of Hollywood Land. It is a near perfect fit that will look fantastic for a loooooong time. I know people want Disney to come up with new ideas and not go for the "safe bet" with existing materials as far as lands and rides go. Who knows maybe there will be a shift back original attractions but in this case I'm all for building on existing titles/characters. So we get to see Mike and Kitty in their own world! Awesome! I can't wait! Sorry to say goodbye Muppets but the Door Hangar roller coaster will be the shit. Muppets you will be missed so I will find you a new home. Soon.
Bugs Land get eaten by Hollywood
Hollywood Land gets an extension, some more Hollywood and some Florida too. Weird. Next to the Tower of Terror will be the home of the DCA version of The Great Movie Ride. Not an exact replica of the WDW attraction but its own type of awesome featuring classic movies filmed in or about California. Across from the attraction will be a children's ride that you won't be going on so we move it to the Bugs Life Theater. Bugs get their eviction notice. The Muppets will be taking over the theater and their new adventure solidifies the expanded Hollywood Land. The Red Car Trolly will now run all the way from Buena Vista Street to the new Muppets Theater. By extending this land DCA adds another "E ticket" attraction, it keeps the Muppets happy, gets a needed extension to the trolly and it will still have at least 2 rides that are meant for the small guys. Humans win. Bugs lose.
Carnival Games get taken over by Ghosts!!!
This is where a new spin on an old favorite come into action. If you have not seen the video of the new Mystic Point attraction in Hong Kong, you must click on the link!!! The ride is a great example of how to make an attraction great without it tying to an existing Disney/Pixar title. The Carnival games next to Toy Story Mania are getting ripped out. A new Haunted Pier attraction loosely themed around the Winchester mystery house and the existing pier combined with the newest ride technology (from Mystic Point) will be the "original idea" that certain Disney fans crave. It will be the Haunted House of DCA. This is a current rumor I heard from @PsySocDisney but I haven't heard or read much about it any where else.
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail replaced with...
Donald's Mining Adventure!
Donald's Mining Adventure is a dark ride that will be taking up the old space of the Redwood Creek Adventure Trail. Adding another dark ride to the park will bring the total up to 5 not including my Hollywood Land extension. This ride will give a touch of California history, classic character tie-in, and will give a richer theme that is needed around Grizzly Peak. DCA needs more dark rides and the Redwood Trail is, well the Redwood Trail. I haven't ever been in there. My friends tell me it sucks ass so I trust them. So now we get to watch Donald and friends make their way out west trying to strike it rich in Grizzly Peak! Speaking of Grizzly Peak. That beast is getting some anamatronic wild life thrown in there!
California Adventure is almost half completed after the latest additions (Cars Land, Buena Vista, Mermaid) and the new attractions are pretty awesome. I feel the leftover pieces of the park are really needing some attention now. The kinds of massive renovations the park needs take time but given the recent spike in attendance I think some construction will start soon. Disney corp knows that Disneyland is special. They just have to sign off on the giant bill that comes with having the most special product out there.

Wait, time out, The Muppets are leaving? Say it ain't so! Seriously The Muppets are my favorite thing about California Adventure and really the only reason why I go into that park. I want to cry a little bit right now.
ReplyDeleteRight now it is all rumor... Like the mermaids that were going to be added to POTC during the last referb... With anew Muppet movie in the works, I think they would be dumb to get rid of them completely...
