If You Don't Know, Now You Know or, Real or Bullshit Part 1

Hey Disney Dorks!

A couple of days ago, long time friend and original follower of the blog(at this point... blog follower may rank higher than friend), Drew, sent me a link on Facebook entitled "Silly Things You Probably Wouldn't Know About Disney Theme Parks" with a comment of, How many of these arr true?(he is a pirate.. that was definitely not a typo) I scrolled through some of the 50 pictures and knew some of them were facts, but a few of them seemed a little... ahh... a far fetched. So I thought I would save you the work of looking into them and find some answers for you! You are welcome! I know, I am pretty freaking cool! Hold your applause... Stop, now your just embarrassing me.

Let's spread some truth, dispel some myth and just plain, make some shit up...

#1 There are two abandoned parks at Walt Disney World. River Country, an old water park, and Discovery Park, an old nature attraction.

True as all get out! Opened in 1976, River Country was Disney's first water park. It was themed like an "old fashioned swimmin' hole" with a touch of Huck Finn. It closed it's doors in November 2001 due to declining attendance after September 11th. In 2005, Disney announced that it would remained closed.

When it opened in 1974, Discovery Island was called Treasure Island and was a place where guests could observe the islands diverse species of birds and animals. Sounds like a real snoozer. In 1999 the island closed its doors forever. The animals that were kept on the island were relocated to new homes at Animal Kingdom.

Both these attractions were on or around Bay Lake and are the ONLY two Disney parks to be closed permanently. I would totally love to pull some Scooby Doo action there! Who is with me?

Here is a great article with some awesome pictures! annnnnd another with even more pictures!

#2 Animal Kingdom was supposed to have a land devoted to mystical creatures, but it was abandoned at the last minute. This is why there is a dragon on the Animal Kingdom sign.

Also TRUE! They are two for two. What the hell? I am ready to bust some myths! Disney's Animal Kingdom was created with the intention of focusing on three types of animals, those that exist today, those that DID exist but are now gone(like dinosaurs and the Billy Ray Cyrus's career), and those that exist in a fantasy world. Named Beastly Kingdom, this area was going to focus mostly on animals of myth and legend. Due to the cost over runs(have you ever tried to buy a unicorn? Those fuckers are EXPENSIVE) the idea was scrapped.

Besides the dragon on the park logo there were a few other nods to the unrealized park area. One of the parking lots is named "Unicorn" and there was a dragon head that topped the top of one of the ticket booths.

Fun fact! With the Yeti on the Expedition Everest attraction the park DOES have a creature that is part of the legendary world.

Not-So-Fun Fact! The previously unused portion of the park is now in the process of becoming Avatar Land... Avatar... James Cameron's Avatar... from 2010... Avatar... huh...

I am getting desperate here. There are only 48 more of these things. One of them has to be wrong!

#3 John Lennon signed the paperwork that finally disbanded the Beatles in 1974 at Disney World's Polynesian Resort.

Fuck me! This is apparently true too! Absent at the meeting in New York where all the rest of the Beatles signed the paperwork ending one of the greatest bands in the history of the world because the "stars aren't right," John Lennon took his family for a vacation for the Christmas holiday. Lawyers from Apple Records finally caught up with him on December 29th 1974 and he signed the paperwork at, you guessed it, Disney's Polynesian Resort.

#4 Justin Beiber is reportedly banned from Disneyland because he punched Mickey Mouse in the nuts.

First mistake! Woooooo! It's "i" before "e"! Duh! Way to not proof read your shit! And that's coming from ME!  Second mistake... No evidence that it ever happened! Should he be banned? There is no question . Yes, of course. He should be banned from... humanity.

Can any cast member can confirm this is false? Follow up... Are there any celebs that ARE banned?

#5 The statue of Cinderella looks sad to adults, but from the point of view of a child, she is happily smiling and wearing a crown.

Here is the statue in question.

My first reaction was, that statue isn't wearing a crown!

But...

Boom! Visual tricks! It's true! Here is a link that shows it in great detail!

I think I am going to cut it off here and feed my baby birds a little bit at a time... OVER THE NEXT TEN DAYS! WHAAAAAA?!?! Yes! You heard me correctly... new posts coming daily over the next 10 days! Think I can pull it off? Neither do I!

Until tomorrow Dorks!

P.S. What's the count? 4 out of 5 are true? Lame! Mythbuster sounds way more interesting than Mythconfirmer. No one is going to watch that show...

P.P.S. I Want to Marry Harry is going to be the absolute best show ever on TV! Move over Honey Boo-Boo!
